A Trio of Medals
These boots are made for walking.... The past month has seen SBC people take on two sponsored charity walks.
On Saturday 2 May our Associate Minister, Kathryn Kane, walked 53.4 kilometres (approx 33 miles) in the Isle of Wight Ultra Challenge around the perimeter of the island. Kathryn's walk started in good weather, but ended in cold, wet, muddy and slippery conditions. She wisely decided to stop at the halfway point, but what a brilliant achievement to go so far. Kathryn took on this challenge to raise funds towards a new home for Ryan, a youth worker from New Life Church, Croydon who cannot come home to his young family following a stroke because his present home is not accessible. The GoFundMe page "Bring Ryan Home": https://gofund.me/fba703406 has raised over £47,000 so far, but they still need more. You can make donations through the GoFundMe website.
A shorter distance – but another great cause! Iona Webb (right) and Pam Hutton (a volunteer at SBC coffee mornings and teas) walked a circular five-mile route in aid of St Christopher's Hospice on Sunday 10 May as part of the St Christopher’s annual Fun Walk. The sponsored walk was in the countryside around Keston, and the weather was kind to them! They started in the morning, and finished in time to get to church for R&R@4 in the afternoon. They both thoroughly deserved their tea after the service! It's not too late to sponsor Iona if you didn't manage to do so before. Theresa Nichols
