Hello Church!
I can’t believe we’re approaching the summer already! This year has been whizzing by…
At the end of May a group of the young adults did a retreat away-day to Wychcroft Retreat Centre. This was a really great day of prayer, fellowship, worship and reflection. We had a guest speaker who came to speak on ‘Finding rest amongst the busyness’ which felt like a really good and helpful theme for us as a group to be thinking about. We then shared communion together to end the day.

We also had a really good pizza party at SBC for the young people. We invited the Year 6s to join us on this event too, and it was a great evening with lots of fun and games enjoyed by all! We are working on some more socials for the summer term, so there will be more to come too!
Assemblies at Tenison’s continue to go really well. I have been asked to speak on some really important topics recently, including change and growth, and self-love/self-worth. Being able to share on these topics, whilst bringing in the gospel, and sharing from a Christian perspective is such an amazing blessing. I feel as though I’m getting to know the year group more each time I see them too.
In Rooted on Sundays, we have recently been looking at some of the questions the young people themselves said they wanted to look at – this has included, The Holy Spirit, Suffering in the Bible (especially around the Old Testament), and being bold in our faith. As I write this too, the young people will be running and leading the service on 29 July. This will be a really great opportunity for them, not only to grow in confidence, but for the church to see them being more involved in the life of the church too!
In September, we have five new Year 7s joining us, and we’re super excited to welcome them in! This of course means the group will be growing quite considerably, which is amazing! As there will be such a broad age range, some of the young people will be in Year 13, beginning to prepare for their next stage of life, whether it be at university or another pathway… we want to be able to minister to those, as well as welcome in the new youth, so we will be doing things a little differently in September, and that is to divide the youth group into two age ranges on a Sunday morning. One group for Years 7–9, and the other being Year 10+; this way we can do teaching and discussion time in a more age-appropriate way.
We’re also starting to think about September, and what the mid-week groups will look like. One of the first things we will be doing in the new academic year is running Youth Alpha which we’re really looking forward to!
Thank you all so much for your continued prayers and support. It never goes unnoticed! Please do keep praying for those who have been doing exams these past few weeks, as they await for results in the summer too.
God bless you all and I hope you have a wonderful summer! Katie
